Getting Started With Your Flooring Installation

When you are ready to start your flooring installation, it is important to make smart choices about what type of flooring will look best in your home. There are many factors to consider when selecting the perfect flooring for your homes, such as the room size and layout, the type of decorating style you have, and the amount of walking traffic that will be present. Here are some tips to help you select the best flooring for your home.

First, measure the size of the room you want to cover and determine if a cork or wood floor is appropriate. Cork floors are a great choice for rooms that get a lot of traffic because they can withstand lots of wear and tear, but they may not be a good choice for rooms that are used mainly for social gatherings or for sleeping because they can be noisy.

Wood floors are a good choice for both types of use because they can last several years without needing refinishing and they tend to look stylish whether they are empty or full of people.

Next, take into account how much space you have available for installation. Some flooring options, like cork flooring, require a lot of space around the perimeter of the room in which it will be installed.

For example, if you want to place an island in your bedroom, you will need at least 4 feet around the perimeter of the room. This is because cork is naturally quite dense and heavy.

The most common type of cork flooring comes with a 12-inch thick base that can be installed over concrete or wood subflooring. It then adds another 12 inches on top of that, giving your room enough support to stand on its own without any additional joists or rafters needed underneath it.
