Anxiety and Borderline Personality Disorder

Although I have said many times that I'm not a psychiatrist or a medical doctor, I have been thinking about how BPD affects people. I have come to the conclusion BPD is closely connected to anxiety. This is why I am saying it. Because anxiety is the root cause of almost every symptom associated with BPD. Take this example:

Fear of being alone

When you think about being left alone as a child what do you remember? Panic, right? Panic can trigger a flight or fight response. The adrenaline floods the body. An anxiety attack is characterized by a hammering heart, sweaty palms, and inability to concentrate. BPD sufferers will experience symptoms that are accompanied by fear of loss and abandonment. Anxiety attacks and BPD can be managed with the help of borderline personality disorder experts.

BPD sufferers are more likely to feel stressed and therefore are more susceptible to anxiety. My anxiety was a problem that I suffered for years, but it wasn't diagnosed until 2000.

Anxiety attacks

As many as half of those with Borderline Personality Disorder may also have anxiety disorders. The panic attacks can last from ten minutes up to an hour. You may have experienced a panic attack once before.

An anxiety attack can occur suddenly, and many people are caught unaware the first time it happens. It is common to have little or no warning when an anxiety attack occurs. You will eventually recognize the signs of anxiety attacks if you suffer from them more often.

There are many ways to deal with anxiety. Many people find mindfulness meditation helpful. Jon Kabat-Zinn is the "founder" of mindfulness meditation has helped many people in his long career.
